23rd Annual TV Preview – Cable Edition Part 2

FX Mr. Inbetween is a new six-episode half-hour drama about Scott Ryan. Ryan is a criminal for hire juggling everyday life. This series is based on a short film by Ryan, an Australian actor.

HGTV Flip or Flop’s Christina El Moussa will star in a new show Christina on the Coast in early 2019. Christina will focus on her design business in SoCal as she helps clients create their own dream homes.

HISTORY The network announced a new documentary series entitled The History 100, which will consist of 100 different films exploring the most fascinating historical events from the last 100 years. The following films are scheduled to air: Meeting Gorbachev is a series of interviews with the man who ended the cold war. Desert One focuses on the 1979 mission – Operation Eagle Claw – which attempted to end the Iran hostage crisis. Rocket Women tells the story of NASA’s Randy Lovelace and his experiment to put women astronauts in space. Game On: The Improbable and Shocking Story of the Video Game Business is an untold story of the triumphs and tribulations and even rivalries that the $100 billion video game industry faced at its inception. Watergate, as one might expect, will tell the complete conspiracy theory led by Nixon and White House officials and will include new, never before seen interviews with Nixon administration officials, journalists, congress members and prosecutors. Where is Angel? focuses on Air Force One and the aftermath after the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil – 9/11. Cola Wars explores the long-time feud between Coca Cola and Pepsi and how they have used different cutthroat techniques to come out as the top beverage for consumers.

LIFETIME The Bad Seed, a reworking of the classic chiller, premieres in September as a feature film. For all of you Gossip Girl fans, your favorite lonely boy, Penn Badgley, is coming back starring in the new series You. You is a modern day love story about an intelligent bookstore manager who meets an aspiring writer and falls head over heels in love. He does everything in his power to win her over. Also starring Pretty Little Liars alum Shay Mitchell, Elizabeth Lail, Luca Padovan and Zach Cherry. The ever-so-dreamy John Stamos will make a guest appearance. Raising Tourette’s gives you an inside look into families who are raising children with Tourette Syndrome. This series will focus on five families and their children ages 11 to 16. Lifetime also signed deals with Queen Latifah and Toni Braxton who will be executive producers to new projects and documentaries coming soon.

MTV Made in Kentucky follows the country lifestyle of a group of friends in Pike County, Kentucky, deep in the Appalachian Coal Country. The series is sure to include crazy “Hillbilly” shenanigans, love triangles, and plenty of pick-up trucks. Staten Island 10310 is (perhaps predictably) the story of young adults and their families doing all they can to remove themselves from the crazy lifestyle in Staten Island. Just Tattoo of Us puts relationships and friendships to the test by challenging couples/friends to design tattoos for one another that will only be shown after they have been permanently inked onto their bodies.

PARAMOUNT First Wives Club reboot is scheduled to air in early 2019 and follows women who stick together after the failure of their first marriages.

SYFY The network is going all out this year with its two new dramas coming to the network, George R.R. Martin’s Nightflyers and the Russo brothers’ Deadly Class. Nightflyers is based on the 1980 novella by the Game of Thrones author as well as the 1987 film Nightflyers. The psychological thriller follows eight scientists as they travel to the edge of the solar system on the most advanced ship ever created, the Nightflyer, hoping to make contact with alien life. The crew and captain question their journey as life-threatening, horrifying events occur. Deadly Class, based on the comic series by Rick Remender, is a coming-of-age journey of a homeless teen who has been recruited into this high school full of teenagers from top crime families. The teen tries to uphold his moral code while also trying to survive the uncertainties and vicious cliques that prevail in high school. Channel Zero: The Dream Door will premiere later this year and is based on the short story Hidden Door by Charlotte Bywater. It focuses on newlyweds who find a weird door in their basement that uncovers the couple’s secrets and ultimately threatens their lives.

TBS To all you Harry Potter fans out there, Daniel Radcliffe is coming to TBS in a new series called Miracle Workers. Lorne Michaels (Saturday Night Live) is an executive producer of the comedy. Miracle Workers is a spiritual show, set in the offices of Heaven, Inc., where two young angels must stop God’s plan to destroy humanity. Starting in 2019, Conan O’Brien’s self-titled late-night talk show will be switching to a half-hour format.

TNT Two new shows are premiering this year Ridley Scott Presents and Suspense Collection. Ridley Scott Presents is a collection of science fiction series from Scott and is set to premiere in the beginning of 2019. The Suspense Collection is suspense-filled, murder mystery type projects. The project will start with a limited series entitled I Am the Night based on the book One Day Shell Darken. It will star Chris Pine and be directed by Wonder Woman director, Patty Jenkins. The six-episode limited series is inspired by true events. This series will be followed by a thriller entitled Tell Me Your Secrets with Amy Brenneman and Lily Rabe featured as the lead characters. Snowpiercer will air in 2019 and will be the TV version of the 2013 fantasy thriller.

TRAVEL Mysterious Islands with host Kellee Edwards is set to premiere in late 2018. Kellee uses her experience as a pilot, scuba diver and explorer to discover some of the most mesmerizing island locations around the world. The Zimmern List was picked up for a second season and will continue to follow Andrew Zimmern as he explores different cities and serves up the best of the best food options in each location.

USA Jake Owen and Shania Twain will host the new series Real Country, which will feature up-and-coming artists in Nashville, Tennessee. The duo will hand-pick singers to perform in different showcases that lead up to a grand finale where one will be named country music’s next breakout act.
