Lisa Rothmiller, Senior OTT/Network Director, celebrates 20 years at Harmelin Media this August. To celebrate this milestone, we sat down with her to ask her thoughts on the ever-changing landscape of the media industry and to get to know her better.

What emerging trends or technologies have significantly impacted our industry since your last interview?
Reflecting on 20 years at Harmelin, I’m struck by how much the media industry has evolved, especially in just the past few years. One of the most transformative developments has been the integration of artificial intelligence into the media and advertising landscape. AI-driven personalization is redefining how brands engage with consumers by enhancing relevance, improving targeting precision, and streamlining operations. At Harmelin, we are actively embracing this shift by incorporating AI tools to automate key tasks and enhance workflow efficiency. As technology continues to advance, it will be fascinating to see how agencies adapt and innovate to stay ahead.
How have consumer preferences or behaviors shifted in our industry since your last interview?
Consumers crave content and turn to it for many reasons: to explore new places, unwind, or immerse themselves in major cultural moments. But while the content itself is essential, the advertising that accompanies it must also resonate. Relevance is key. Whether through shoppable ads that offer seamless purchase opportunities, or contextual targeting that aligns messaging with pivotal moments in programming, consumers increasingly expect a personalized, meaningful experience. As expectations evolve, so must our strategies. Delivering tailored, value-driven ad experiences is essential.
Where do you see the industry in the next 1 Year, 5 years, 10 years?
AI is transforming media – powering personalization, improving measurement, and enhancing user experiences. While there’s been some concern about automation, it’s important to remember AI is a tool, not a replacement. We’re still the strategists, the storytellers, and the decision-makers. AI simply helps us do our jobs more efficiently and effectively – and that’s a win for both brands and consumers. I am curious to see how this continues to evolve in the years ahead.
Outside of work, what activities or hobbies do you enjoy?
I’ve always had a passion for travel – discovering new places, trying new foods, and immersing myself in different cultures. I’ve been fortunate to visit several countries, but one destination still high on my bucket list is Tanzania. From going on a safari in Serengeti National Park to soaking in the beauty, beaches, and cuisine of Zanzibar, it’s a dream I will one day make a reality. The closest I’ve come so far is Disney’s Animal Kingdom safari experience. While fun, it is not quite the real thing!
Have you done any volunteer work that has left a lasting impact on you?
When I was a child, my church would organize food bag distributions for the homeless in downtown Philadelphia. At the time, I didn’t fully understand the significance – it was simply something my parents encouraged me to do as part of our ministry. Looking back, I now realize how deeply impactful those moments were. My parents weren’t just involving me in an activity – they were teaching me the value of service. As a Christian, I believe one of my core purposes is to share the Good News. But that also means living it out through compassion, empathy, and a willingness to help others wherever and whenever I can.
Can you share a value or principle that you actively apply in your daily life?
There are several ‘gems’ that I live by, both personally and professionally. First – preparation is key. It is important to do your due diligence with anything, especially before presenting or submitting work, whether internally or externally. Second – walk humbly. You never know when you will need to ask for help, or who is watching, so leave attitudes and arrogance at the door. Third – treat people how you would like to be treated. It is an old adage, but it still holds true. We all want to be treated with kindness and respect, no matter our title or position. Finally, enjoy the moment. Life is too short to be stressed, so have fun!
How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance?
Mental health isn’t a luxury – it’s a priority. Between work deadlines, kids’ schedules, extracurricular commitments, and trying to stay connected with family and friends, life can get overwhelming. That’s why I’ve learned the importance of taking time to ‘fill my own cup’. If mine is empty, how can I pour into anyone else’s? For me, that means carving out time each day for a workout or a walk with my dog. Small moments of self-care can make a big difference in staying balanced and present.
Jamie Rudenstein, Vice President, shares, “What a gift Lisa has been to our team! She’s the kind of colleague who makes everyone around her better; she’s a natural teacher and always generous with her time and knowledge. Whether she’s helping a teammate master a new skill or digging into a new challenge, she brings an impressive mix of organization, curiosity, and unwavering attention to detail. She’s deeply devoted to her work and to doing things the right way, and she approaches every task with fairness, integrity, and just the right amount of backbone (something she’s actively helping me develop, whether she knows it or not). We are lucky to work with her, and even luckier to learn from her!”
Monica Olivio Crane, Vice President, has worked with Lisa since the beginning and remarks: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Lisa for most of her 20 years at Harmelin and was lucky to have her on my team from 2017 to 2024. During that time, she was an instrumental and highly valued member of the Network Team, primarily focusing on national linear TV. Lisa brought a constant willingness to learn and an uncanny ability to bring order and efficiency to everything she touched. But what truly stood out, and made working with her such a joy, was her calm & steady demeanor. No matter the challenge, Lisa always found the positive and spread that optimism to everyone around her. I’m proud to see her carrying on the Network legacy and taking it to new heights. And I miss working with her every day.”
Noelle Siaplay, Director, also adds: “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Lisa for the last 14 years, and in that time, I’ve seen firsthand the loyalty, dedication, and passion she brings to the clients she serves and to the colleagues she works alongside. Watching her navigate and thrive in the ever-evolving world of media has been nothing short of inspiring. Lisa is a natural leader, always willing to speak her mind, advocate for change, and lead by example. I’ve been grateful to work beside her — and even luckier to call her a friend. Her dedication to her faith, family, and friendships shines brightly in everything she does, and that light is felt by everyone around her. Happy 20th Anniversary, Lisa! Your impact here runs deep, and we’re so lucky to have you!”
